pray today

This is Uncle James again. Joel and Jess just finished meeting with the doctor this morning, which leads me to ask you to pray for several specific things. Cora was put on the ventilator last evening, but she still had some difficulty in breathing in the night. Her oxygen levels dropped pretty low about 5 different times. Today the doctor has decided to put her on a different sort of ventilator which will help to inflate her lungs a bit more. Parts of her lungs are deflated and even collapsed, so this new machine will hopefully help to restore some of her lung capacity.

As Cora goes on this new machine, there are a number of serious risks involved. Please pray that she will be able to tolerate the transition and that the ventilator will help her to regain ability to breathe well on her own. She will be on the machine for at least several days.

In addition, Cora's heart is somewhat enlarged. She will be receiving an echocardiogram this morning to ensure that it is still functioning properly, but this is obviously a big concern as well, so please pray.

These many setbacks are so difficult for Joel and Jess. Remember to keep lifting them up too.

It's hard to rephrase all that the doctor said to us just now, but just know that this is such an important time for you to pray for Cora.

My heart aches for all of you. My daughter, when she was a baby, was on a ventilator to help her breathe for several days. We were so thankful when she could breathe on her own and she is a healthy 12 year old now, Thank God. That was such a painful, trying time for us, and I had never felt so close to God as I did then. I am praying a novena to "Infant Jesus of Prague", and many rosaries for the complete healing of your precious baby girl. I know you are deeply relious and putting all your trust in God. He hears you and knows your pain.

I have picked up this precious girl's blog from Olivia's. I am so sad for this baby girl and her family. I keep her in my prayers daily and just hope they feel the love that people everywhere are sending their way. I am a nurse and I know what so much of this medical talk is. It has to be so hard to watch this as a parent. I pray that God holds them in the palm of His hand and keeps them all safe. Please let me know if there's anything I can do or questions I may be able to answer.

i love you guys.

just came across psalm 139 as i'm getting ready for services next weekend. here it is for you:

1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.
5 You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide meand the light become night around me,"
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;the night will shine like the day,for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being;you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

It really is a small world...I graduated high school with Renae Gangwish (Sperling). I moved to Denver after college and made a new friend, Kari. After being friends with Kari for a year, we discovered that she has been roomates with Renae in college. Last week, Kari sent me your blog and told me to pray. I've been following your story ever since.

In the meantime, I received an email this weekend from a friend back in Nebraska. Her church somehow heard the story of Cora, and she sent me your blog and told me to pray. I emailed her back and told her it was Renae's cousin (she also graduated with Renae), so we realized that your story has spread from Denver to Nebraska and beyond.

I can't imagine what you're going through, and it would be easy for me to say, "Hang in there. Everything will work out." But even as a believer myself, I know that it's not always easy to believe, it's not easy to trust, it's not easy to let go. All I can say is I'm praying and hurting for you guys.

My heart aches for your family but I know the God we serve is a mighty God and he is the creator of all things. Trust in Him with everything you have even though I know this time is tough. Cora is strong and brave and God will give her the strength to prevail over this horrible disease. He is the Great Healer and Physician and He can take care of the cancer and rid it from her body. I will continue to pray throughout the day and lift Cora and her family up to God to help the ventilator work to restore her lungs and to continue to allow the chemo to kill the cancer and be gone from her body. I will also pray that her heart will be returned to normal.

Morgan is fussy right now, cutting teeth and I will be reminded more to be even more patient with her and really try to hear what my little girl is trying to tell me.

I love reading and hearing your faith..... it will be your ROCK to get you through this. I am still new to this so I am not sure where you all live, but know that we are praying a ton here for Cora and a speedy healing and recovery. Hang in there......

God will not give you anything you can not handle, even when you feel like you can't take anymore.

God Bless.

I want to let you know that even though we've never met, I've been praying like crazy for you guys and for Cora. I want to let you know, as well as anybody else who reads this or you tell, that after reading Sharla's (Boccia) orginal blog post about Cora, I followed the link to yours and read what's been going on.
After reading it, something spoke to my heart saying that I needed to try to do something, anything, to get prayers coming to you. I started a 'Cause' on Facebook called Prayers for Cora. There aren't a lot of memeber right now, but it's growning slowly and the word is spreading. So hold on to the faith you have and remember there are people, most you know, and several you don't, that are thinking of your family and will be praying for you daily.
May God Bless & Keep you.

There are moments in life where the very thing we hold in our hands is the only thing that really matters. These little moments can get lost so easily unless we stop and take them in and soak them up as they happen.Life is fleeting.Thankfully I've learned that lesson. I know not to take a minute in this life for granted. We can't turn back time, but we can always savor the here and now. I wouldn't trade this moment in time for all the money in the world. Moments matter.

Dear Jessica and Joel,
We can not stop thinking about you and your precious Cora Paige. We are praying continually, and crying out to our Heavenly Father, trusting He will make himself very real to you in this time of great need.

For your physical rest we claim Psalm 3:5
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

For spiritual rest we claim
Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love.
He will rejoice over you with singing.

Cora's Prayer
Psalm 22:9-10
Yet you brought me safely from my mother's womb
and led me to trust you when I was a nursing infant.
I was thrust upon you at my birth.
You have been my God from the moment I was born.

Jess and Joel, you are amazing parents. Cora, is the bravest champion of all!

We pray that the God of Hope will fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you would abound in Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Love to you all! Big, big hugs,
from the Don and Brenda Hudson Family

Jess, oh how it helped my heart so much to see you, hug you and pray with you tonight. We continue to lift Cora up in prayer all day long and sometimes in the night when I wake. I'm praying that her scar will stop seeping and that her lungs will get stronger. I will be praying SO very hard in the morning during her surgery. I know the Lord will have his hands on her little body and I know he will lead every move that the surgeons make. I know this is such a rollercoaster and we all so badly want to take all of this away for you. But, there is no greater peace than knowing that our mighty God is holding all 3 of you so tight. He is the God of miracles.

I was thinking about your visitor from the mom of the neuroblastoma survivor and just thought...that will be you soon...taking Cora to visit another family going down the same path you are on living proof that your God is the greatest physician there is.

I don't know you, but I was directed to your blog and asked to pray. I will do so. I was deeply touched by your posts and your precious little girl. I see that some one already shared Psalm 139. However, perhaps if you read it as it is typed below, it will have even more meaning (I have changed a few words to personalize it for you. the () define the words changed.

1 O LORD, you have searched (Cora) and you know (her).
2 You know when (she) sits and when (she) rise(s);you perceive (her) thoughts from afar.
3 You discern (her) going out and (her) lying down; you are familiar with all (her) ways.
4 Before a word is on (her) tongue you know it completely, O LORD.
5 You hem (her) in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon (her).
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for (us), too lofty for (us) to attain
7 Where can (she) go from your Spirit? Where can (she) flee from your presence?
8 If (she) goes up to the heavens, you are there; if (she) make(s) (her) bed in the depths, you are there. (even in PICU)
9 If (she) rise(s) on the wings of the dawn,if (she) settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide (her),your right hand will hold her fast.
11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,"
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;the night will shine like the day,for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created (Cora's) inmost being;you knit her together in (her) mother's womb.
14 I praise you because (she is) fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
