first week {griffin james}

Griffin will be two weeks tomorrow. Crazy how fast time goes. We already can't imagine life without him. And talk about a good baby...he is pretty much perfect. Good sleeper, good eater, and pretty laid back. A mama's dream. Here are some highlights from Griffin's first week.

{Birthday} Griffin James born September 20th at 4:13 in the afternoon.
{Day One} Spent the day hanging out in the hospital. Lots of visitors to welcome Baby Griffin.
{Day Two} Home from the hospital. So glad to all be together. Grammy stayed the night to help.
{Day Three} Sleeping so good at night...three to four hours at a time. Auntie Anne stayed to help.
{Day Four} Official due date. So glad you are already here! Auntie Anne stayed again.
{Day Five} Backseat buddies. Off to church for the first time as a family of four!
{Day Six} First full day at home...just mama and the boys. We survived!
{Day Seven} One week old. Hanging with your brother outside. Weight check today - 8 lbs 4 oz

And of course we can't forget Levi. Here is what he has been up to since Griffin came home.

1. Checking the beans on his four wheeler. Just like daddy.
2. Sidewalk chalk on the porch.
3. Waiting anxiously for daddy to get home from work.
4. Cheeseburgers outside. Levi's request for lunch.

1. Staying up way too late thanks to Baby Brother.
2. Riding the barrel train. He could have stayed on this all. day. long.
3. So much fun at the Country Fair.
4. Watching football with Daddy and Griffin.
A new favorite past time (and bedtime stalling technique).

We are slowly figuring out a new schedule and trying to be flexible all at the same time...because is it really possible to have a schedule with a newborn?? Thanks for all your prayers and encouragement!

Oh, Jess, he is such a beautiful baby. And Levi looks like such a big brother... isn't it funny how "big" they seem when you bring the newborn baby home?! I couldn't believe it. :)

You look pretty, too, by the way. :) Congratulations, once again... I am always so excited to see a posting from you; it's like opening a virtual gift each time I read your postings. Enjoy the week and hopefully you are enjoying the same fall weather that we are here in Central Missouri.

May God continue to bless your sweet, sweet family.

There's nothing like the feeling of holding two of your children at the same time - one arm around each. Your heart (and lap) can't get much fuller. Glad you've finally gotten the chance to do so.

Love all the sweet pictures of your boys! We're trying to figure out a schedule too and the 1 month mark for us was today! (By the way, I'm so impressed that you were on your own with both boys on day 6... it took me a couple of weeks before I was ready for that!)

I just had to comment. Someone shared your blog with me today. Last July we lost our only child at the time, Preslee, in a drowning accident. This summer we also had a little boy. I just wanted to send my love, from a mom who understands many of the things you are going through. Both of your kids are adorable :)

Love,

So tomorrow I'm being induced...waiting for that really "real" post about the reality of becoming a big brother. Levi seems to be handling it well through picture-speak! Grif is precious.

What a beautiful family you have! Thank you for sharing your boys' first week together with us. :) I had to laugh at the 'new bedtime stalling technique' (watching football with daddy). Let me just tell you...that will only get worse (or better, depending on your point of view). My 7 yr old son now stays up waaay too late on Saturdays to watch football with my husband. They both love it so much, I find it hard to crack the whip when bedtime comes. :) Enjoy your boys!

I've followed your blog for a couple of years now-- I had my 2nd son on Sept. 16th so now I love getting to read about someone with a baby boy the same age as mine. It's nice to see that a lot of us are going through the emotions and changes of a 2nd baby in the house. My older son is 3.5 yrs old. And, to feel normal about all of it! Keep posting and I'll keep following to compare our boys! I just hope Griffin isn't sleeping 12 hours at 6 weeks old and I'm still up every few hours! ;) ;)
