mother's day

Mother's Day day looked a little different than we had planned this year. That usually is how life goes, isn't it? On Saturday Levi got sick. He was pretty miserable and pathetic and he needed lots of his mama's attention. He must not have realized that we were hosting two little mother's day gatherings at our house the next day. Thankfully he took a long nap and I managed to get the house clean and food ready. Joel got home from work in time to mow the lawn and we even planted some flowers with the help of my sister and brother-in-law who stopped by. Phew.

The next morning I decided to stay home from church with my sick little boy. It wasn't the most ideal Mother's Day...it would have been better to be together as a family...but the morning actually ended up being perfect. I loved just spending time with my boy. We finished getting ready for our guests who were coming after church and even played outside a little. My heart felt so full and grateful for the privilege it is to be Levi's mama...even when he is grouchy and sick.

Levi and Joel also surprised me with this necklace. It is my first Lisa Leonard piece and I LOVE it. I have been wanting something from her shop for a long time. My hubby is a good listener. Not knowing that Joel had the same idea, I bought some of Lisa's new magnets for both of our moms. Have you seen them? We personalized them with the names of all the grandkids. They turned out so cute. I love everything in Lisa's shop!

So...Levi went down hill the rest of the day. He was pretty much a mess for both of our lunch and dinner gatherings. He did manage to have a few smiles here and there for his cousins. Despite the grouchy baby, we had a wonderful time with our families...celebrating all of the mamas in our lives.

I hope you had a special Mother's Day weekend. And if yesterday was a hard day for you, I pray that you experienced the Lord's indescribable love and comfort. He always knows just what we need to get through the day. Happy Mother's Day...a day late!

I actually did have a hard day! I was missing my mom so much. I'm sure the pregnancy hormones didn't help, because I was crying most of the morning and even at church!

Your necklace looks great. I am gonna check out that shop!

A sick child.... now that's a REAL mother's day! I loved your picnic photos - all your pictures are so beautiful. I'm late leaving a message about your ultrasound post, but I have to write and say that your story really touched me. I had a similar reaction when I found out my first child was a boy. It's always nice to hear/read that one is not alone. Yay for the blogging world!
