the oscillator

Another hard day, but still lots of things to be thankful for.  As you heard from James' post, Cora's surgery was cancelled.  They did an echocardiogram this morning and found that the fluid around Cora's heart was the same or maybe even less.  This was a praise!  Joel and I prayed last night that the surgery wouldn't be necessary. Cora has been on an oscillator since this morning. The doctor decided that she needed to be on this machine to help recruit the collapsed lung space.  She transitioned well to this machine and has been pretty stable the rest of the day.  There have been many answers to prayer today.  We are trying to focus on the little praises (baby steps), but sometimes it is so hard when your baby is still lying on a bed hooked up to all these big machines.  We are longing to hold our baby and giggle with her again.  Pray that this will be possible soon!  We know that God is good.  He is holding our precious little baby in His hands.  That is the best place she could be.  We are praying for a miracle.  Lord, please restore our little girl's body and get rid of the cancer!

"The LORD your God is with you, he is MIGHTY TO SAVE.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."  Zephaniah 3:17

Praises:
-The surgery was cancelled!
-Cora transitioned well to the oscillator
-Cora has had lots of very wet diapers today (That is a good thing.  Yeah for pee!)
-The seeping from Cora's incision seems to be slowing down
-All of Cora's blood gases were normal this evening
-The skilled doctors and nurses who are taking such good care of Cora
-Friends and family who continue to support us through this journey (Joel's friend Nathan even flew in from New Hampshire today)
-Cora is 11 months old today!

Prayer Requests:
-Cora's lungs would open completely up and function properly
-Cora would be able to transition back to the ventilator soon
-We would continue to see signs that Cora's body is functioning like it should
-The chemo would be killing the cancer
-Cora's lungs would stay free from infection
-A good day tomorrow
-The ability to rest in God's peace as we wait

Thanks for your continued prayers.  We are so thankful for the army of prayer warriors who are storming the gates of heaven for our daughter.

Dear Father,
Please continue to hold little Cora in your hands. I lift her up to you right now along w/ Joel & Jess, and the Macs & Beverlins. Help her lungs to heal so she can breathe on her own. Help everyone to get rest. Please, God, take the cancer from her body and give her the strength she needs to be well again. Thank you for the blessing she has been to her family these last 11 months. Please heal her so she can celebrate her birthday next month. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

Cora and your family have been on mind today and every time you popped into my head I prayed for Cora's healing and God's strength during this time. God is good and He is holding Cora in the palm of His hand and that is the best place for her at this time. I pray that you will find peace to rest because Cora needs you guys right now. I am praising Him for the positive steps today and praying for a more positive day tomorrow.

I just want you to know how proud I am to call you guys my cousins. Your faith in God is such an inspiration to us all. I am awe struck at how many people are reading your blog and getting to see your love for the Lord and faith in Him even in the midst of despair. You do such a good job with it. People are seeing first hand what a relationship with Christ looks like and how He is there for you even in the toughest times. I know doors are being opened and hearts are being changed. God is using this for His glory. What a cool thing to be able to tell Cora someday, that people came to know Christ because of her.
Tell Cora that we love her tons. I got some great new feather headbands for her today. Joel is going to love them:) Also, tell her that Livie wears her Cora shoes everyday. And tell her that we are all thinking hard of the best, biggest gift ever for her first birthday. We love you guys so much!!!! J,A,C,S and L

i just came across your blog kind of randomly, through a blog connected to another blog i have been following. anyway, as i read cora's story my heart just broke. i can't even imagine what it would be like to see my own 18 month old daughter fighting cancer right now. this probably sounds insane coming from a complete stranger, but i live in wichita, and i would be more than happy to help you in any way i possible can - meals, rides, shopping you need done, a place to stay. absolutely anything. i am your sister in christ, and i am prepared to help in any way i can. if nothing else, just know that i will be lifting up sweet Cora in prayer to my Father, who is mighty to save! may his peace which surpasses all understanding envelop you and your sweet daughter tonight.

Rejoicing with you and continuing to pray for Cora... and you all. I'm praying for the physical, of course... for healing, for rest, for peace and comfort... but also praying that as you walk through this trial, you will come to understand the Father in even more intimate ways... that with each day He will reveal more of Himself to you and that knowledge will strengthen you, and bring you to an even deeper level in your relationship with Him. Oh, to know Him more! May He truly be your everything in these difficult days... may He hold your hands and whisper soothing words of comfort to your hearts. May He show you the many ways He is at work in this... for your good and for His glory. God bless you all! We're praying in NH.

You and Jess are a living example of God's faithful, trusting in the Lord and spreading his glory through your time of sorrow and pain. God does all things for the good of those who love him.
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Ps 18. 1-2
