need a ride?
Sometimes on Mondays I feel like I just need someone to give me a ride until I can find the energy and brain power to get my gears going. Do you know the feeling? If Levi could just plop his mama in that wagon of his and pull me for a little bit I think it would help. He needs to burn some energy anyway...or maybe just pass some of that two year old energy on to me.
This weekend I snuck outside to take some pictures of Levi pulling his wagon. He was totally in his own world...pulling and pushing away. He loves being outside. Last year he couldn't even budge the wagon on his own and this year he is pulling it all over the yard.
And then he spotted me and started heading over in my direction.
He pushed and pushed until he got as close to the camera as possible.
He checked out some of his pictures and then got bored and was off again.
Sometimes he pulls his wagon and sometimes he pushes it. Sometimes his wagon is empty, sometimes he collects rocks and sticks, and I would bet that he occasionally even gives Bobby and Ishama a ride. Or maybe they give him a ride. Who knows. :)
And sometimes he just needs to catch his breath and have a snack. It is tough being a two year old!
I am thankful that as followers of Jesus, we do have someone to pull us along. And He doesn't just drag us along, He gives us the strength we need for today and hope for the future. We don't have to face even one day alone. After losing Cora, I clung to these verses:
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28
And even today there are many days that I open my tired eyes in the morning so thankful that I don't have to face the challenges of the day on my own. Knowing His mercies are new every morning and that He will give me just what I need for whatever that day and week holds...even on a Monday morning...that's what keeps me going.
I pray that on this Monday morning you are finding rest in our Savior. If you are weary and burdened, or just tired from getting up with your sweet baby in the middle of the night, don't let the day go by without stopping and seeking Him. We need His strength for today and everyday. Don't pull that wagon of yours on your own...let Him lead the way. I promise it will be even better than hitching a ride with Levi in his wagon! :)

I just had to say I needed this post. I have a 4 month old who won't sleep more than 2-3 hours at night and I am EXHAUSTED (I also have an almost 3 year old!) I love your blog because I can relate but even more because I always feel uplifted after I visit. Thanks for sharing the scriptures that help you when you are feeling weary (and plain tired!) And, if you ever figure out how to make Griffin sleep, please share that, too!

I have two small children and I can certainly remember all of the long nights. You are not walking alone because not only is He right beside you, but so are all of us that follow your blog. Your story is inspiring - you did not want to have to live your lives without your daughter but you have shown me how someone can move forward in life with grace, faith, trust, and love as you and your husband raise your two adorable sons. Where did you get the wagon? We have one with the plastic tires that doesn't work well on our country roads!
Thank you for another wonderful post. Just on Sunday in church, we sang Great Is Thy Faithfulness, one of my favorite hymns. And then yesterday morning, my devotion was about how God's love and faithfulness are "baked fresh every morning" just like fresh bread...our daily bread. Thank you for such a beautiful reminder that God's love and faithfulness are always there.
Monday's are wearisome. Praying for you especially this coming Monday as you remember your dear Cora.

I just love reading about your two sweet boys! I've noticed that you have mentioned how Levi loves to tote his snack cup everywhere he goes! My daughter is 16 months and does the same thing! What kind of snacks do you offer to him? I try to keep my daughter's snacks as healthy as possible {since she seems to like to snack ALL day long} but find that we often stick to the same kinds of things: Annie's Organic cheddar bunnies, oyster crackers, Crispix cereal, craisins, cubed cheese, nilla wafers.... any other suggestions?
