a BIG trip {colorado 2011}
We spent the weekend with my friend Laura and her family. Laura and I have been been friends since fourth grade and she is like a sister to me. I love her family too. We had so much we wanted to do, but the time flew by. And really, with four boys between us...there isn't time for much else!!
Here are a few highlights...long car ride with a non-sleeping one year old, after the first hour of driving Griffin was an angel baby, arrived in CO late Thursday night, lots of talking, lots of laughing, staying up too late, Chick-fil-a, girls only {+Griffin} trip to IKEA...yes, I got to go to IKEA!, more Christmas shopping checked off the list, angel baby lasted four hours in IKEA without even a peep, tried a new steak and fries place {I can't remember the name}...yum, football watching, more talking and laughing, four sweet boys...far away friends, sleeping in a little later than usual, yummy breakfast every morning made by Michael, quick trip to HomeGoods, more Chick-fil-a, lots of hanging out and playing at home, cute little boys running around in jammies, quick family picture for my Christmas card before we left, so sad to say goodbye on Sunday, another eight hour car ride home with very little sleeping from same one year old, so thankful for the smart person who put a Starbucks in the middle of nowhere at the halfway point of our Kansas/Colorado trip {thank you!}, Griffin wins best little traveler award, and we finally arrived back home. It was a great trip.
Thanks for the wonderful getaway M + L. We loved our time together...now it is your turn to come to Kansas!

Sounds like a busy and fun trip!! Jealous of the IKEA trip..wish they had one in every town!
I love me some IKEA! We have to drive a little over 3 hours to get to the closest one, but I've been a couple of times.
As for the non-napping...I've got a 4 year old who still takes a 2+ hour nap at home but will not sleep for more than an hour in the car! Irritating!
I'm so glad you had a great trip!
Looks like y'all had a great time! What a cute photo collage to remember the trip. And what a great baby Griffin who let you shop in Ikea for four hours. Wow! Isn't Chick-Fil-A the best? Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures, as always!
Looks like the "Big Trip" was well worth it, especially when good friends are at the end of that 8-hour drive. I remember me and my husband taking our son who was 3 at the time on a long trip. We were not even 15 miles from home, not even out of Salt Lake Valley in Utah and he was asking "are we there yet?" WEll, needless to say, it was a long trip but one we remembered for a long, long time. Your boys are really growing fast. I appreciate all you share on your blog and feel like I know you. You are quite an amazing woman. May the Lord be kind to you and yours this holiday season. May the new Year bring you joy and happiness. Mary from SLC Utah
Looks like you guys sure had a good time! I love all of the photos. We are big chick-fil-a fans too!
Did you hear that Chick-Fil-A is coming to Wichita?!
Looks like a fun trip! Any trip that includes Ikea shopping with friends is a good trip!
Yes. The name "Oasis" for that travel stop in Colby totally fits because of that Starbuck's!
Awww. Love your pics :) Glad you took some since I was a little MIA in that department. Miss you guys bunches already. Thank you so much for making the l.o.n.g. trip. You will love that I drug Michael to IKEA tonight for the kitchen only to find that it was OUT OF STOCK. Are you kidding me??? total major super duper drag. Made another really good impression on Michael :) LOVE YOU GUYS!
Very random... but I can't wait to see what you did w/Griffin's room! I'm redecorating my little boy's room now that he's in his big boy bed... and was inspired to also do lockers (I saw you mentioned that previously). BUT... I'm hesitating to do anything yet, because I want to see what you do first! lol! Is it almost ready??? ;)
it sounds like a wonderful trip.
makes me miss chicago jen.
there are just certain people who make it wonderful every time you are together.
:)
Since there is only 1 IKEA that I know of in Colorado, you must have been in Denver! If I had ran into you at IKEA, I would have been very excited! :) glad you enjoyed such a fun weekend with friends!
I was at that IKEA over the weekend too! If I would have ran into you I would have felt like I was meeting a celebrity :)
how dare you leave without my IKEA order!?!? Haha, just kidding - looks like your cart couldn't have held more! Your trip looked fabulous, so glad you could get away! You are so lucky to have a place like Laura's to be able to escape to so easily (well, kind of).
You can never go wrong with a trip to Colorado...living here is so wonderful with all that just at your fingertips! IKEA on the other hand, craziness was written all over that store when I went and I am scared to go back!

Sounds like fun!
What program did you use to format your pitctures like that? I love the layout but am not sure how to duplicate! I would love your thoughts! (ashleymc.johnson@gmail.com)
Have a great day!
It sounds like a lot of fun!
