the best mac daddy
As I looked back through the pictures I have of Joel on Father's Day I was reminded of some really great memories and some really sad ones too. One of those memories doesn't even need a picture to remind me of the heartache this daddy was feeling the year he had to face Father's Day without his little girl in his arms. There will always be one Father's Day picture missing. But as I thought back through the past four years of celebrating Joel as a dad, I couldn't help but be reminded that my family is so very blessed. Joel is a fantastic dad. He loves his kids intensely. And whatever their time is here on earth, I can be certain that my kids will be well loved by their daddy. I am so thankful that the Mac kids can grow up with the best Mac Daddy!
Levi and I took Joel to breakfast at McDonalds before church this morning to celebrate. It is his favorite. He is easy to please! :) Oh, and he loved his Tiny Print cards!
I know very well that while Father's Day is a day to celebrate the dads in our lives, it also can be a very hard day for whatever reason. We were reminded in church this morning that we have a Heavenly Father who is more than capable of filling whatever void you might be facing today. And while today I am celebrating the amazing dads that Joel and I have been blessed with and the amazing dad that Joel is to my own kids, I am so thankful for that truth. Our Heavenly Father loves us more than we could ever imagine. His love is personal and passionate and powerful. He loves us like no one else can. I will never be able to fully comprehend the love of my Heavenly Father, but I can be certain that his His love for me will never change.
Happy Father's Day!

man joel, how do you accomplish the "getting younger" look through the years? maybe you could share those secrets. you could be jess's guest blogger for the day.
any day that starts off with McD's breakfast is a great one - you are one spoiled guy. hope you had a superb day!
You always state things so well and capture the spirit of the moment. I agree 100% about us having a loving Heavenly Father. Big smiles came to my face looking at all the pictures. :)
happy father's day, joel! it meant a lot to me that you remembered me at our quick "hello" at church. shawnie had to work all day so i was a little bummed.
I heard yesterday "even if you didn't have the best father - God's got your picture in his wallet and He shows it to everyone". Cute.
Having a loving involved father is one of the best gifts we can be given. And watching our men be those same loving involved fathers is beyond amazing. I know Levi and the little one on the way are so lucky to have him (and you!) in their lives.
Happy Father's Day, Joel!
I am so glad that God is such a loving father that he sacrificed his Son for us so that we may have the hope of an everlasting life. My dad's a fallen firefighter and all day yesterday in our FB support group people were writing about how horrible this day was. I couldn't help but feel so sad for those because they seem to have no hope. I'm ever so thankful that my dad gave his life to Christ and we all have the hope of seeing him again.
I'm with Amanda. I want to age like Joel. Hope you had a great day!
Those are very sweet pictures and memories! Happy Father's day to Joel!
This is good to hear, as Father's Day this year was more of a painful than a celebratory day for me. I can't believe how much Levi looks like Cora - their resemblance is incredible! Both of them are just precious!
I'm with Amanda...I think Joel should do a guest post!
Just wanted to say a huge thank you!!! for blogging about Tiny Prints. I tried it with my hubby and dad and the cards were a BIG hit. They turned out really great! I rarely can visit your blog without getting choked up, so I also want to thank you for your very real testimony, it is a constant blessing, and I am a complete stranger (but a sister in the Lord!).
How very sweet, and heartbreaking at the same time. Praying for you all as you continue to miss your sweet Cora, but so very grateful that you have an eternal perspective that allows you some peace.
And how the heck does your (and my) husband get to looking better and better each year? I am NOT following suit and feel just a wee bit jealous that men get better looking with age! haha!
So So sweet. Did you purchase the date fonts somewhere?
I'm so thrilled that you you had a wonderful father's day....your family is such an inspiration....
Beautiful post, Jess.
Hope you don't mind, I linked your blog on mine. If you would like me remove it, please just let me know.
The fact that you call him "Mac Daddy" should tell him that you're not a fun hater! ;-) Too cute!
