ready to face the week.

Just a few things as we get ready to face the week that marks the day we had to say goodbye to our little girl. Not my favorite week for sure. But the Lord has given us just what we have needed to get through the past two heavenly anniversaries and I know He will be faithful to do the same as we approach three years without Cora. But instead of dwelling on that, how about a few random pictures of my two silly boys? I'm pretty sure they will be getting some extra squeezes around here this week.

This boy is pure sweetness. I just love the way he smiles at me. And that twinkle in his eye reminds me so much of his sissy. We have been spending a lot of quality time together in the middle of the night. He likes to wake up frequently and check on me. :)

Griffin got to try out the walker last week and he loves it. And all of a sudden his big brother started noticing him. Imagine that? Levi thinks the walker is awesome. Don't worry, I know that it is not safe for Levi to be standing on it. Griffin is always closely supervised when cruisin' in his walker.

Levi is needing a little extra supervision lately too. This boy is BUSY. I looked over from the couch where I was feeding Griffin and he had sat himself up at the computer and was very busy doing something with my keyboard and mouse. I asked him if he was supposed to be touching Mama's computer and he said it was his fence for his dinosaurs and cows. Of course, my mistake.

And the next time I looked over he was calling his daddy on the "phone" asking him what he was doing on the farm. Oh my. Why is it so hard not to laugh when I should probably be disciplining for not obeying?

Last week the weather was amazing. It was so nice to be able to play outside and we have been going on walks as often as we can. The weather was beautiful again today so we hit the dirt roads and went on a walk this morning too. I am even starting to get back to running a little...maybe I need to schedule a race for the near future...a little motivation! Griffin looks like he hates going on walks, but he actually loves it. We were just about home and he didn't like that I stopped the stroller. He prefers to be on the move.

This week we are going to do a few Valentines projects, play outside as much as we can, take some flowers to the cemetery as we remember our baby girl's life, try not to all catch the flu (Joel thinks he is getting it today, yuck), and just do our best to embrace with joy whatever this week holds.

Hope you have a great week too!

I'll be thinking about you and praying for you all. We have dear friends who just recently lost their 14 year old daughter... if you could pray for them. I know you will know just how to pray for them in their grief.

Such sweet babies. My husband wants to know why I'm cracking up at my computer, but that mouse 'phone' picture is out of this world. So impressed that you caught him in the act so perfectly. Thanks for sharing :)

Just came across your blog and read about your precious little Cora. What a jewel added to Heaven she is. Knowing that the prayers of others sustain us, even (and sometimes especially!) from strangers, will lift you in prayer this week.

And those boys...delicious!

oh, Jess. My heart is heavy for you this week.
Today is my birthday and my son's 7th birthday and we said a prayer for you guys at dinner, because we celebrate, we're mindful that you guys are grieving and remembering Cora.
February 8th marks the day we found out (last year) we were expecting our 4th baby. We found out in April, at 13 weeks, that we lost him... and I didn't think February 8th would be a hard day to come to, because its not the day we lost him. Now I'm realizing any day having to do with his life has a way of bringing joy and sadness at the same time.

I'm praying for you, my blogger friend.
For the Lord's continued peace and comfort.

I will be praying for your whole family this week. I know the sadness over Cora's loss extends to so many. Praying a hedge of protection over you and for joy and peace to surround you.

Your boys are too precious. Griffin is getting big so fast. Levi is too. :) I think that age is incredibly difficult to disciple because they are so much fun. Enjoy it and follow your mommy heart.

I have followed your blog for almost 2 years and today is the day I feel compelled to comment. I truly can't imagine what you have gone through. As the 3 year anniversary approaches my heart and prayers are with you and your whole family.
I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and I am terrified of losing either one of them. Reading your blog helps me to process those fears and to see a glimpse of what it's like...and how to still find joy even if you do lose one of your babies.
My sister was killed in a car accident when I was 16 and my parents handled it with unbelievable grace. We still celebrate her life each year on her birthday and on the day she died. We eat chili and angelfood cake (her favorite food and the angelfood cake for our angel in heaven). She died 17 years ago and I still miss her.
I love seeing pictures and reading your thoughts. Thank you for continuing to follow God's lead and be a light into so many lives.

Our 3rd Heavenly anniversary/birthday was Feb. 3. It's always rough around that time- but having two other sweet boys (I do too) does help!

It's February 8th and I am praying for your hearts and minds and arms today.

Love in our Living Savior.

"And IF Christ has NOT been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. IF only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. BUT CHRIST HAS INDEED BEEN RAISED FROM THE DEAD, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep... For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. THE LAST ENEMY TO BE DESTROYED IS DEATH." {I Corinthians 15:17-20, 25-26}

You are in my prayers. I wish I could offer you more. But I have prayed for you. I do pray for you. I will pray for you. My heart breaks all over again for you. I remember exactly where I was when I read of Cora's passing. My son was only one month younger than Cora when she passed. I looked at him and couldn't even imagine losing him and couldn't even fathom the pain that you felt. I can't fathom the pain that you still feel. So I pray. Pray for your comfort. Pray for healing. Pray that you feel the love and support of those around you and those that don't even know you from far away places. Pray that you will feel the embrace of our Lord and Savior as he surrounds you with his love and shares in your grief. Pray that you will find comfort in knowing that your sweet little Cora touched the lives and hearts of so many people around the world. Sending love and prayers from one of those that she touched <3

I am new here and I wanted to ask what you paint color is on your wall...I love it. But then I felt like a big jerk for making that the first thing I say to you when I have read of the tremendous loss you have suffered in the past few years. Your story about Cora is heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time. Thank you for living out your faith in a way most of us cannot begin to imagine. It truly has blessed me today. :-) Oh and I all kinds of love that chalkboard too. Did you build it or is it a real one?
