watch out world

Oh my.
I may have a problem on my hands with my super-great sleeper.
Levi seriously has been the BEST sleeper.
He has slept through the night forever.
He takes good naps.
I just put him in his crib with his pacifier and blanket,
and usually within ten minutes he is asleep.
No crying.
I wish I could tell you exactly how to train your child to do this.
I can't.
He totally did it on his own.

Until today...
which brings me to my problem.
Today I put Levi down for a nap and about thirty minutes later
I was still hearing noise in his room.
I went upstairs to check on him.
As I peeked inside his room this is what I found:

Someone {Levi} has learned to sit up AND stand up in his crib.
And today he turned it into a really great game.
I sat outside his door for another twenty minutes and watched him.

He would pull himself up and look out the window for a while.
Then he would let go with one arm and plop down on his mattress,
play with his blanket, and then pull himself back up again.
He did this over and over and over.
I kept sitting there thinking surely he was going to get tired and lay down.
Never happened.

So, finally I {fun hater} had to intervene.
I went in and he gave me such a huge smile.
Like he wasn't tired at all
and was having so much fun hanging out in his room.
I laid him back down and told him it was time to take a nap.
I was pretty sure he was just going to go back to his game when I left,
but he must have been worn out because he went right to sleep.
I am hoping this is not going to become a new routine at our house.

Oh, and have I mentioned that Levi is on the move?
As of this weekend, my little boy is CRAWLING!

Watch out world,
here comes Levi!

OH, I love the crawling phase! Which seems especially nice now that I'm in the, yell MOMMY ten million times a day, as if I said I would be there an hour ago and just forgot. Sigh. Four years old can be so fun.

Meanwhile, Levi is such a cute baby. I love your family. Just so you know, someone in Seattle prays for your family often.

Awww Levi! He's such a cutie and I admire so much the way you fuss over him. Jess, remember babies like to practice their new found skills and don't want to nap. He'll get over it in a couple days and go back to sleeping/ worries mommy :)

Take care and best wishes. Amanda

Oh boy, fun times with a crawler in the house again I'm sure! Maybe it's too bright in the room? I always darkened my kids room at naptime! Good luck, hope he continues his hot streak of a great sleeper, those are hard to come in point, my godson has YET to sleep through the night and he's TWO YEARS OLD! My poor girlfriend...ugh!

So cute! Just in case you do have some sleep issues check out this link. She talks about sleep regression. One of the times is 8 months. One day everything changes! Good thing he is so cute and adorable. :) PS, did you ever post pics of his room? I love the colors!

Such fun stuff going on in Mr. Levi's world! I remember when my son stood in his crib for the first time - he ended up being afraid of heights and was freaked out when he looked over the railing, so he'd stand there, shaking in his crib, crying, waiting for us to come save him :) I never understood why he just didn't STOP standing up in it :)

Levi is just so cute!! You are such a great photographer too!! I always love your pictures.
My son started this when he learned to pull up at his crib, but he would cry rather than play! :) It took him a while to figure out how to get down from standing up! It only lasted a nap or two and then he went right down to sleep like he always did.

Girl...those boys are crazy busy! And they're so coordinated so fast. He looks just as busy as our sweet guy:). He learns one thing new, then is off to the next. Makes life so fun & trying to get stuff done so interesting. Levi is just so cute!

He is just so adorable! I remember those days where you hear jumping, singing, mumbling, and playing on the monitor. I'd so desperately want them to nap but some days it just doesn't happen? Mom needs that "quiet time" too!

Oh my, Levi is busting out! Way to go little (big) man, crawling and pulling up! I can't believe he still went to sleep for you after discovering his crib rail; you are right, he must be the world's best sleeper. He is just gorgeous, I am so happy for you.

Oh goodness! My lil' Gillian Grace did this too, just before she gave up her morning nap. Now she's down to one nap a day (in the afternoon for anywhere between 2 and 3 hours). She's my great sleeper too! Your family is so adorable. A friend of mine from HS had the last name, McClellan...not quite the same but we did call her Mac (see I did make a connection);). Anyway, looking forward to reading!

It is totally priceless that you were able to get those pictures without him knowing you were there. How fun for you to see him having such a good time, feeling so proud of himself? :) He really does have the sweetest face. I'm sure you don't find it hard to agree! :)
